Toiletries and hygiene for Cuba

Send toiletries and hygiene products to Cuba

A bar of soap, a tube of toothpaste or a pack of sanitary pads are things you buy here without a second thought, and in Cuba they can take weeks to find. A well-planned box of toiletries covers your family for the whole month.

With Paketico you pack that box at your home, and we pick it up (within 100 miles of Miami) and take it to your family’s door. Here we explain what to include, how to pack liquids and how much it costs.

  • Packages: 7 to 14 business days from pickup
  • Door to door all over Cuba
  • Home pickup within 100 miles of Miami
  • Your family pays nothing on delivery

Which toiletries to send to Cuba

Think about what your family uses every day and what runs out fastest. A list to get you started:

  • Personal care: bath soap, shampoo, conditioner, styling cream, deodorant.
  • Oral care: toothpaste, toothbrushes, dental floss.
  • Feminine hygiene: sanitary pads, panty liners, tampons.
  • Babies and seniors: diapers, baby wipes, diaper rash cream, adult diapers.
  • Household cleaning: powder detergent, laundry soap, dish soap, sponges.
  • Other: razors, toilet paper, skin creams, combs.

Toiletries travel in their own package

Food, toiletries and medicines (medical supplies too) always travel in their own package: they can share that box, but are never mixed with the rest of your things.

Toiletries can share a box with food and medicine, never with anything else: all of that goes in the “Food, hygiene and medicine” package. Pack another box for clothes, shoes or household items; both can go in the same shipment, in one payment. Each package weighs 10 to 100 pounds and can be worth up to $800. If you also want to send food or medicine, see the food and medicine guides.

How to pack shampoo, detergent and other liquids

Liquids cause the most trouble in a toiletries box: one open bottle of shampoo stains everything else. Follow these steps and they arrive fine:

  • Buy products sealed and keep them in their original containers.
  • Wrap tape around every cap and put each bottle in a zip-top plastic bag.
  • Group the liquids together in one area of the box, upright and packed tight.
  • Put heavy items (detergent, soap bars) at the bottom and crushable ones (diapers, toilet paper) on top.
  • Use packs of diapers or toilet paper to fill the gaps: they protect everything else and make the most of the space.

What should not go in the toiletries box

Flammable or hazardous products cannot be shipped. Avoid aerosols, nail polish remover and alcohol-based products, and choose stick or roll-on deodorant over spray. If you are unsure about a product, ask us before you pack it.

Send reasonable amounts for family use: the point is that your family doesn’t have to go hunting for the basics, not to resell.

How to get the most out of every pound

Shipping is charged by weight: $5.00 per package plus $2.00 per pound. So it pays to think about what weighs a lot and what goes further. Powder detergent and bar soap go further per pound than liquids; diapers and toilet paper weigh little but take up a lot of room.

For reference, a 15-pound toiletries box costs $35.00 and a 25-pound one, $55.00. Pickup at your home, up to 100 miles from Miami, is charged separately by distance. See more examples in how much it costs to ship to Cuba.
